Technical Author - Permanent

Location:

Heathrow/Hayes (Southern)

Opportunity Summary:

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Commencing with Non-structured Frame Maker, AvP70, ATA 100, ATAi2200
  • Moving towards ASD S1000D Data Modules, SGML, XML, in due course. Full training provided
  • Ex-Military, however this is not essential.
  • This company prefers ex UK military service personnel, more specifically RAF.
  • SC Clearance preferred but not essential - This will be applied for upon engagement of employment.

Hours of Work:

  • Standard = 36 Hrs (standard)
  • Overtime = 4 hours at Management Discretion
  • Half Day on Fridays
  • Monday to Thursday 8.00 - 16.45
  • Fridays 8.00 - 12.00

Salary:

  • £40,000.00 per annum
  • Overtime available (£4,000.00 per annum based upon carrying out 4 hrs per week)

Commencement:

A.S.A.P.

Further Information:

  • B&B rates are typically £50/night
  • Renting - Typically £800.00 per month for a 2 bed apartment on outskirts of where role is based.

Software and Website Developer

Location:

Derby Area

There will be lots of scope for creative input to ensure solutions are visually appealing, have a feature user-friendly design, and clear navigation. This role will suit a hands-on developer with a keen eye for detail, and an intuition for solving technical problems.

Job Role:

  • Responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites and software solutions, from layout to function, in-line with client specifications
  • Utilising technical expertise to solve interesting problems during specification design, across a wide client base
  • Applying understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
  • Ability to recognise and resolve technical issues during and post development
  • Working across existing client solutions as well as new projects
  • Project management from planning through to delivering software platforms
  • Liaising with senior business management, external partners, and clients

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Excellent knowledge of ASP.NET using C#
  • Knowledge and practical experience of SQL
  • Deep understanding of Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and APIs
  • Hands-on experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.)
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Software Engineer

Location:

Middlesex

Key Responsibilites:

  • Design, code and unit test software in accordance with the companys procedure and project specific requirements.
  • Implement software that is maintainable and is fit for purpose (meet the requirements).
  • Write design documentation and unit test reports.
  • Estimate own allocated work with support from a senior member of the software team and meet agreed timescales.

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in software, computer science or software related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience in the application of software engineering activities.
  • Experience of preparing studies and design review material.
  • Background in the defence industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of formal design methodologies (ideally UML and OO).
  • Knowledge of real time and multi-threading programming concepts.
  • Experience of high level programming language (C++ or Java).
  • The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum.

Software Engineer - Principle

Location:

Middlesex

Key Responsibilites:

  • Design, code and unit test software for allocated scope.
  • Lead, review and take ownership of the software developed by the team to anticipate any deviance from best practices and ensure the software meet its requirements.
  • Task and co-ordinate team resources on a daily basis to ensure the provision of software engineering support to meet deadlines and budget.
  • Estimate the hours and duration required for tasks to be executed to plan and schedule tasks within the team and identify any schedule dependency and slippage as early as possible.
  • Support planning input to project schedules and deliver commensurate with those plans.
  • Disseminate project information to Team Members.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Assist engineering lead in recruiting additional staff for the software team and identify departmental skill gaps.
  • Ensure that the software engineering activities are performed in accordance with the companys procedures and any additional project specific requirements (including adequate documentation).
  • Prioritise technical activities to mitigate risks and support the engineering lead in understanding and managing those risks.

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in software, computer science or software related discipline.
  • Proven track record of delivering software engineering activities with project budgets in excess of £1M.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of software engineering full lifecycle.
  • Robust experience of UML and OO design methodologies in a commercial environment using CASE tools (Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody...) to develop design and perform in-depth review.
  • Robust experience of real time designs (GoF, MVC/P) and programming concepts to inform design decision.
  • Proficient in a high level programming language (C++, Java) to be able to supervise and monitor work undertaken by the team.
  • Practical experience of configuration control to manage parallel developments.
  • Experience of conducting studies and the preparation of design review material.
  • Experience of producing low level software specification.
  • Background in defence is desirable.
  • The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum.

Hours of Work:

Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

55K, relocation package available.

  • Experience of delivering software engineering activities on multiple applications/projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of software engineering full lifecycle.
  • Robust experience of UML and OO design methodologies with CASE tools (Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody...)
  • Experience of real time designs, programming concepts and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in high level programming language (C++ or Java).
  • Experience of conducting studies and the preparation of design review material.
  • Experience of specification development, verification and validation.
  • The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum.
  • Background in defence is desirable.
